These three conversation series on The Trauma of Elite Boarding Schools: The consequences for children, adults & the UK were chaired by Suzanne Zeedyk. The conversation were originally delivered live online in November 2023 and explored:
A growing number of voices have highlighted the emotional damage caused by elite boarding schools. How can we explain and make sense of that damage? Is the impact relevant to institutional practices of the past, or are contemporary boarding schools still having deleterious consequences? How do they shape the way that cultural power operates in the UK? Who most needs to understand these impacts: former students, therapists, parents, or the wider public? These are the questions that will be explored in this Conversation Series, hosted by The Bowlby Centre. We bring together leading authors, campaigners and survivors who are well placed to provide uncomfortable insights and perspective. The conversation will of value to those who come due to personal history, professional interest or general curiosity.
